Peyote Grows Slowly

Over the past 20 years, the peyote population has dropped by at least 30%. And because of how slow it takes to regenerate, scientists are concerned it may never recover. The biggest threats to peyote is overharvesting, poaching, and unethical picking techniques. Its rise in popularity has contributed to its decline.
