It can be tempting to think of the world as a lot of disconnected places, particularly when there’s a lot of strife out there. We can talk about the East and the West. Or we might say that certain cultures are inherently different from one another. To remind ourselves that we are fundamentally connected, it can be helpful to take a look back at history. Looking back at how different groups of people and ideologies overlapped can remind us of our enduring commonality. And we believe that this is so important. Piggybacking on last week’s mention of Cyrus the Great, this week we want to take a look back at the Persian Empire. Because looking at this history shows that people are not as separate as we may think.
