Cupping
Cupping is an ancient practice from Chinese Medicine. A healer places special cups on a person’s body that create suction. The cups are then left there for around five minutes. This suction is meant to increase blood flow to that area of the body. There are two types of cupping, dry and wet. Dry is only suction. Wet cupping includes controlled medicinal bleeding. The practice of cupping is thought to have been first practiced by an ancient Chinese healer around 300 BC. The treatment balances a person’s yin and yang elements. Bringing these elements together helps responses to pathogens, stresses, and overall healing. You may have seen people with the perfectly round bruises left by a cupping session. The bruises fade but the well-being brought about by cupping continues.
